Body oil has a bit of a PR problem. We all want the result.
Soft skin.
Healthy-looking glow.
Beautiful scent.
What we don’t want is standing around after a shower wondering whether putting clothes on will ruin both the clothes and our mood. If you’ve tried body oil before and thought, absolutely not, why am I still oily twenty minutes later?, you’re not alone. The good news is that body oils don’t all feel the same.
Why do some body oils feel greasy?
The simple answer is formulation. “Body oil” describes an entire category of products, not one particular texture. Different oils naturally have different weights and skin feels. Then formulators can combine different oils and emollients to change how the finished product spreads and feels.
That’s why one body oil can feel rich and heavy while another feels silky and lightweight, neither is automatically better. The question is what you’ll actually use consistently. Texture matters more than we talk about. We tend to talk about body care in terms of ingredients.
What’s in it?
Is it moisturising?
What oils does it contain?
Those things matter. But there is another question that’s arguably just as important:
Do you actually enjoy putting it on?
Because if you hate the way a product feels, chances are it’s going to end up sitting untouched in your bathroom. Your body oil needs to fit into your real routine.
What does a fast-absorbing body oil feel like?
A lightweight body oil should spread easily across your skin without needing loads of product. Your skin should feel soft and moisturised afterwards, and you should still get that gorgeous body-oil glow. The difference is what happens next. You shouldn’t feel like you’re wearing a thick coating of oil. For us, the ultimate test is pretty simple:
Can I get dressed afterwards?
If the answer is yes, we’re happy.

How much body oil should you use?
Probably less than you think. Start with a small amount and massage it over your skin. You can always add another pump if you need it. Using more oil doesn’t automatically mean more hydration. Sometimes it just means more oil sitting on top of your skin.
Try applying body oil after your shower. One of our favourite times to use body oil is straight after showering. Pat your skin so it’s not dripping wet, but don’t worry about getting completely bone dry. Then apply your oil. It becomes an easy final step to your shower routine rather than another separate skincare job you have to remember later.
What about Australian summer?
This is where texture becomes even more important. A rich body product might feel lovely during winter and suddenly feel like far too much once Melbourne decides it’s 35 degrees. If you’re someone who avoids moisturising during summer because you hate feeling sticky, look for lightweight formulas and start with less product. You can always add more to areas that need it.
Scent matters too
Here’s the fun part, your body oil doesn’t only have to be skincare. A scented body oil can become the first layer of your fragrance routine. Apply your oil first, let it settle and then add your perfume. You don’t need an exact scent match. A vanilla body oil can sit beautifully underneath caramel, amber or gourmand perfumes. A fruity oil can work underneath florals. A floral body oil can add another dimension to a sweeter fragrance. Play around with it, there are no fragrance-layering police.
And no, everything doesn’t have to smell like vanilla
We love a gourmand moment. Clearly. But sweet body care isn’t for everybody. Some people want vanilla, caramel and pistachio. Others want sandalwood, amber, musk, woods or fresh scents.
The best body oil scent is the one that makes you want to reach for the bottle every day. That’s why fragrance is such a personal part of body care.
Why KEZA focuses so much on skin feel
When we created KEZA Ultra Nourishing Body Oil, we didn’t just want something that looked beautiful sitting on your bathroom shelf. We wanted something you’d actually use.
That meant creating an oil that leaves skin looking glowy and feeling moisturised without that heavy, greasy aftermath. Because the goal isn’t simply to own a body oil. It’s to reach for it after your shower without having to think about it.
Apply.
Glow.
Smell good.
Get dressed.
That’s it.
The takeaway
If you’ve previously decided that you “don’t like body oils”, it might not be body oil itself that you dislike. You might just hate greasy body oils. Look for a texture that suits your routine, use less than you think you need and pay attention to how the product actually feels once it’s been on your skin for a few minutes. Because beautiful body care should feel good on your skin too.
Glow, yes. Grease, no.
